As part of the general refurbishment of the listed office building at Klopstockstrasse 1 in Hamburg, extensive modernisation measures are being implemented, taking into account the historical building fabric. The building was designed by Werner Kallmorgen in 1970.
The refurbishment included the energy optimisation of the building envelope using a modern mullion-transom façade system with triple glazing. The thermal insulation requirements in accordance with GEG and the sound insulation specifications in accordance with DIN 4109 were fully taken into account. In addition, the technical building equipment was comprehensively modernised, including a new heat pump system and adapted ventilation and smoke extraction systems.
The services as general planner included the coordination of all specialist planners, the property planning in accordance with HOAI (LPH 1-8) as well as the creation of a detailed fire protection concept and coordination with the monument protection authorities. Particular challenges lay in the refurbishment of the lift lobbies in line with the requirements for listed buildings and the logistics planning for the inner-city property, which is completely surrounded by public land.
The refurbishment will secure the building for flexible office use in the long term while preserving its architectural value.
