As part of an architectural reorganisation, the former headquarters of Hamburger Sparkasse at Holstenwall 20-22 is being stripped, gutted and thoroughly renovated. The postmodern building from the late 1980s will be clothed in the guise of Hamburg’s Kontorhaus architecture and become a place of structural solidity and a symbol of modern working culture. The impressive eight-storey high-rise and the striking historic Wimmelhaus merge into a symbiosis of design and utilisation qualities.

Spacious, light-flooded rooms and flexible floor plans create a future-orientated working environment that meets the needs of modern companies. In terms of sustainability, around 8.1 million kilograms of carbon dioxide will be saved by retaining 80% of the concrete structure of the building shell during the refurbishment of the existing building.

In addition to ecological aspects, the focus is also on the well-being of the users, for which energy-efficient lighting and modern air conditioning concepts will be integrated, among other things. LEED Platinum certification is being sought as part of the redevelopment.

In this challenging project, WBRE is taking on key tasks such as execution planning, tendering, contract awarding, site supervision and special request management. With these services, WBRE is supporting the project through key phases of planning and realisation.
