The nationally renowned Rundkino Dresden cinema is located right next to the Centrum-Galerie shopping centre and is a striking building from the 1970s. Since its opening in 1972, the building has offered space for up to 1,018 visitors in the main auditorium and a further 132 in the so-called ‘studio auditorium’. Until the political change in 1989, the Rundkino was a popular meeting place for young and old from Dresden and the surrounding area.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall and changes in the cinema industry, as well as damage caused by flooding in 2002, which destroyed the auditoriums that had been added to the basement, the cinema was temporarily closed. However, the Dresden Puppet Theatre and a restaurant remained as tenants in the building, which was listed as a historic monument in 2003.

After extensive renovations, the cinema reopened in 2007. In 2019, the former puppet theatre space was converted into another cinema auditorium. Today, the property comprises seven cinema auditoriums and the Pizza Hut restaurant, offering a total rental area of around 4,800 m².

The project involves collaboration with WBRE, which is supporting the owner in the planning and implementation of all necessary measures. WBRE’s services include, in particular, the legalisation of fire safety certification and the coordination and implementation of the necessary construction measures.
