In the Hamburg district of Barmbek-Süd, near the Dehnhaide subway station, a residential building with a commercial unit on the ground floor is being built on behalf of Robert Vogel GmbH & Co KG. The building consists of a basement and seven staggered upper floors, adapted to the surrounding development, with a green roof.
The property will have a total of 3,500 m² of living space – 30 percent of which will be social housing – and 75 largely barrier-free residential units, which, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows, will be bright and modern.
The challenge in implementing the project is building over an existing underground parking garage connected to two other residential buildings and a high-rise. The immediate proximity to the U3 subway station and the adjacent Barmbeker Markt, a major thoroughfare, presents a special challenge in terms of soundproofing to ensure a quiet and relaxed living environment.
In addition to the electricity generated by a photovoltaic system on the green roof, the building’s heating is powered by Hamburg’s district heating network, ensuring an environmentally efficient supply. Furthermore, rainwater is channeled into drainage ditch and allowed to seep into the grounds.
