Jenfelder Au is a sustainable urban development project in the east of Hamburg that is being built on the site of the former Lettow-Vorbeck barracks. The neighbourhood comprises a total of around 1,000 residential units and combines modern living with innovative environmental technologies.

Part of this construction project was managed by bicon Generalplanung and comprised the new construction of three residential buildings with a total of 90 rental flats as well as commercial space on the ground floor. This construction project created 25 publicly subsidised rental flats, which were supported by the Hamburgische Investitions- und Förderbank (IFB). Two of these building plots have a shared underground car park. In accordance with the specified guidelines, the buildings have been fitted with green roofs, which help to improve the urban climate and contribute to natural rainwater management.

In addition to housing, green spaces, playgrounds, daycare centres and local amenities have also been created in Jenfelder Au to ensure a high quality of life. The neighbourhood is based on a balanced mix of multi-storey residential buildings, terraced houses and detached houses in order to cater for different target groups. Thanks to sustainable construction methods and energy-efficient concepts, it is regarded as a showcase project for environmentally friendly urban development.
