Hotel Wedina

The boutique hotel Wedina is centrally located in Hamburg’s St. Georg district, close to the Old Town. The ensemble consists of five individual houses, a garden and an in-house library. The hotel is committed to literature and regularly organises readings with well-known authors.

As part of the refurbishment and conversion measures, WBRE was commissioned with client consultancy and construction management. Planning and architectural support were provided by Dirk Michel Architekten. The work included the completion of the hotel ensemble as well as the rectification of defects and the finalisation of the conversion of a neighbouring building into long-stay flats.

A particular focus was on the so-called ‘Red House’, in which the completion of the ground floor and basement areas was supervised. This included the reception, lobby, breakfast room, in-house library and various function rooms.

In the course of the construction work, moisture damage was discovered in the basement, which made it necessary to renovate and seal several exterior walls at short notice.

The refurbishment and conversion work on the hotel ensemble was completed in 2021.
