The “FORUM an der MUSEUMSINSEL” urban quarter is currently being built in the direct vicinity of the Museum Island World Heritage Site in Berlin. It comprises eight listed buildings and a central square. For the conversion of the Logenhaus and the Dieselhaus, we initially took over the crisis management of the disrupted construction processes. The Logenhaus is the former seat of the “Große Landesloge der Freimaurer von Deutschland” (Grand Lodge of the Freemasons of Germany) at Oranienburger Straße 71/72 and at the same time the oldest still preserved order house in Germany. The Dieselhaus was once connected to the lodge house and was used as a dining hall and dance hall for the lodge. The two buildings are being converted into representative business and office space. The contract was extended to include the planning services for the conversion in accordance with the preservation order in order to ensure that the demanding execution specifications are met from a single source. The special challenge is the combination of technical requirements from fire protection and stability, the observance of monument protection laws as well as a contemporary implementation in order to design the building in a high-quality manner.
