Based on plans by the architectural firm Matteo Thun Milano GmbH, a hotel is being built in the municipality of Übersee am Chiemsee that not only stands for luxury, but also meets the highest standards of construction and sustainability. In order to preserve the connection to the region, the old beer garden will remain open to the public.
A natural stone base forms the foundation for a visual connection between the wood/Nagelfluh and glass façades on the ground and upper floors. These natural, regionally sourced and processed materials not only give the hotel a local charm, but also enable energy-efficient construction. In line with the principle of short transport routes, regional companies are commissioned, which reduces CO2 emissions and strengthens the local economy at the same time.

As a highlight of craftsmanship, the roof is covered with durable wooden shingles, creating an aesthetic connection to the surrounding nature. Passive energy savings are achieved through large roof overhangs, which ensure self-shading and a reduction in energy input.
The hotel’s building services are designed to be sustainable: heat pumps and photovoltaic systems contribute to reducing energy consumption and utilising renewable energy sources. Another focus is on avoiding composite materials as far as possible and ensuring that materials can be separated to increase reusability and recyclability.

The new Chiemgauhof blends harmoniously into the beautiful landscape and the shores of Lake Chiemsee. The hotel will not only be a place of relaxation and hospitality, but also a showcase project for sustainable construction and living in harmony with nature.
