Friedrichstraße

For a long time, very little had happened on the site of the once-renowned Stern-Verlag on Friedrichstraße in Düsseldorf ’s city center – now the demolition of the existing building is about to commence.

In March 2016, the doors of the Stern-Verlag building were ultimately closed. Since then, the public has been eagerly awaiting new developments. Finally, there is an update: Motel One plans to build a new hotel at this historical location.

Motel One has already demonstrated the seriousness of its commitment to reviving Friedrichstraße by undertaking preventive documentation measures in the neighborhood prior to demolition. This is evident in one of the most significant challenges of the demolition process: shared walls with adjoining buildings. Moreover, the project is a logistical feat, as the removal of demolition material and deliveries have to be carried out from the rear via Talstraße due to other ongoing construction projects on Friedrichstraße.

The planned opening of the future 283-room hotel promises not only to boost the local economy but also to revitalize the neighborhood.
