The nationally renowned Rundkino Dresden cinema is located right next to the Centrum-Galerie.
Since its opening in 1972, the striking building has provided space for up to 1,018 visitors in the main auditorium and 132 more in the so-called ‘Studiosaal’. Until the political change in 1989, the Rundkino was a popular meeting place for young and old from Dresden and the surrounding area. After 1989, changes in the cinema industry and the flood in 2002, which destroyed the rooms that had been built into the basement, led to the temporary closure of the cinema. The Dresden Puppet Theatre and a restaurant remained as tenants in the building, which was listed as a historical monument in 2003. After extensive renovations, the cinema resumed operations in March 2007. In 2019, the previous puppet theatre space was converted into another cinema auditorium. Today, the property comprises seven cinemas and the ‘Pizza Hut’ restaurant and offers a total rental area of around 4,800 m².
