Amazon Headquarter

The new headquarters of the American online retailer Amazon is being built on a former industrial site in Parkstadt Schwabing in the north of Munich. The client, ARGENTA, as a property owner, has the responsibility to keep buildings flexible for several generations of users. The project developments must therefore be planned and executed to retain their value right from the start. High-quality materials, such as natural stone from the region, are used for the facade design. In addition, a facade system with a recycled content of 70% in the aluminum is used. The constant technological progress in the field of ecological construction offers promising solutions for a sustainable reduction of resource consumption as well as CO₂ emissions. For example, hollow core slabs are planned and installed for the production of the building shell in order to significantly reduce the use of concrete. After the Microsoft HQ, the Amazon HQ is the second headquarter for an IT group that WBRE is realizing in Munich for ARGENTA. Planning and execution are being carried out in close coordination with the user Amazon, which is developing the office space itself. The approximately 56,000 m² office building will be realized in a total construction period of approx. 30 months – from groundbreaking to commissioning.
