The Cloud One Kontorhaus

The Motel One Kontorhaus ‘The Cloud One’ in Hamburg combines traditional Hanseatic architecture with modern design and contemporary comfort. The new building is part of the Motel One Group’s up-and-coming lifestyle brand ‘The Cloud One’ and the first hotel of this brand in Germany. The hotel is located in Hamburg’s historic Kontorhaus district, just a few steps away from HafenCity.

The architecture of the building picks up on the characteristic brick architecture of the neighbourhood and blends harmoniously into the cityscape. The building comprises three underground and eleven above-ground storeys and houses 457 guest rooms, spacious lobby and restaurant areas on the ground floor, a rooftop bar and 124 car parking spaces. The façade of classic brickwork is vertically structured by various soffit elements. This picks up on the plot structure of the neighbourhood and achieves a contemporary integration into the surroundings.

During the construction work, relics from the time of the first settlements in the 12th century were discovered. Exposed foundation walls, wooden foundation piles and everyday objects such as coins provided fascinating insights into the town’s early history. The hotel was opened in December 2023.
