Mönckebergstraße 27

In the heart of Hamburg’s city centre, the listed Kontorhaus at Mönckebergstrasse 27 has been extensively renovated, taking into account the listed building status and the requirements of the Hamburg Town Hall Market Ordinance. The formerly contiguous rental space on the ground floor and first floor was restructured: Attractive retail space was created on the ground floor, while the 1st and 2nd floors were converted into modern office space.

The conversion measures on the ground floor included floor-to-ceiling windows, which were intended for catering use, as well as the creation of an atrium. The undocumented structural analysis of the existing building posed a particular challenge, which was solved in a complex manner, especially when closing the large ceiling openings.

WBRE GmbH was responsible for project control and construction management for this project. The client was SOS-Kinderdörfer e.V., represented by IBV Immobilien- und Verwaltung GmbH. The planning was in the hands of SKAI Architekten. The project was completed in 2020.
